SF BOARD MEMBERS
The Student Foundation Board Members guide the direction of the Student Foundation through event planning and management of outlets like development, membership within SF, social media, and more. Each Board member leads a team of committee members that assist and execute SF’s four traditional events. The Board Members goal is to create lifelong memories for the SMU campus community.
Elise WatersTon | Campus events chair
Elise Waterston is a sophomore from Dallas, Texas. She is studying Advertising with a Specialization in Digital Media Strategy and Public Relations. She previously served as the Entertainment Coordinator for the 2023 calendar year!
In addition to her role as Campus Events Chair, Elise serves as Secretary for Mustangs for Hope — a nonprofit organization that provides virtual tutoring services to the South and West Dallas area. Elise is also a member of Chi Omega and is a Wish Granter at Make-A-Wish North Texas.
In her free time, Elise enjoys going on walks, watching Suits, and going on a JD’s cookie and coke run!
Emma Schellhase | Communications chair
Emma Schellhase is a sophomore from Overland Park, Kansas. She is currently studying Finance and Advertising- Strategic Brand Management. She previously served as the Decorations Coordinator.
In addition to her role as the Communications Chair for Student Foundation at SMU, Emma is employed by SMU Athletics as a marketing intern. Emma also serves as the Vice President of Programming for Delta Gamma, a dance teacher, and much more!
In her free time, Emma enjoys going to workout classes, trying new restaurants with friends, and spending time outside!
Lorena NEWELL | content chair
Lorena Newell is a junior from Mexico City, Mexico. She is currently pursuing double majors in Corporate Communications and Sociology. Lorena has been actively involved on campus serving as the Internal Affairs Coordinator for Membership before taking on the role of Content Chair.
Outside of Student Foundation, Lorena is also a member of Delta Gamma.
Lorena enjoys spending time with family and friends and going on walks during her free time.
Thayer Orr | Homecoming Chair
Thayer is a sophomore from Fort Collins, Colorado majoring in Finance and minoring in Economics.
She has always loved coming to Homecoming as a kid and she is so excited to be the years Homecoming Chair!
She is also currently the House of Representatives Director for SMU Student Senate and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi.
In her free time she enjoys baking, being outdoors, and spending time with her friends and family. Pillar up!
Tatum Morris | family weekend chair
Tatum is a freshman from Tampa, Florida, with a double major in Finance and Advertising.
She has been familiar with Family Weekend since attending as a prospective student, as her older sister also attends SMU. The positive experiences attending the event motivated her to become more involved in organizing it once she became a student.
When she arrived on campus as a freshman, SF was the first organization she joined and can’t imagine her SMU experience without it.
Outside of SF, Tatum serves in Student Senate as the Vice Membership Chair and is a member of Chi Omega Iota Alpha.
In her free time, Tatum enjoys scuba diving, listening to country music, and spending time with her friends and family.
PETER HARRIS| tate lecture chair
Peter is a sophomore from Mesquite, Texas with majors in Marketing and Economics. He has been involved with Student Foundation since his first semester at SMU and has loved every second of it!
Before serving as Tate Lecture Series Chair, Peter was the Marketing Manager for the Tate Lecture Series Committee in 2023, for which he received the Presidential Award of Excellence.
Peter is currently President of the Cockrell-McIntosh Commons Council, a Peer Counselor for the Rotunda Scholars Program, a pledge for the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, and a student worker for SMU Development and External Affairs.
In his free time Peter enjoys spending time outdoors, hanging out with friends and family, and expanding his ever-growing sneaker collection!
Reese Harwood | membership chair
Reese Harwood is from San Antonio, Texas. He is currently pursuing a major in Accounting while at SMU.
Before serving as Membership Chair, Reese was a freshman general member of Student Foundation.
In addition to Student Foundation he is a Pre-Major Senator, the Treasurer of Mustang Powerlifting, rushing Alpha Kappa Psi and working as a Sports Club Supervisor.
For fun, Reese enjoys hanging out with his friends as well as his dogs.
Jaden Cox | Development chair
Jaden is a current sophomore from Long Beach, CA who is majoring in Operations Research Engineering Management and Data Science. She joined Student Foundation during her first semester at SMU and has loved every Thursday since because of it! Before becoming the Development Chair, Jaden was the Activities Coordinator for the Campus Events Committee last year.
She is currently Vice President of Panhellenic for Delta Gamma Alpha Upsilon and works at the Lyle School of Engineering as a tour guide.
Jaden enjoys cycling classes, spending time at the beach, and trying new restaurants around Dallas. Pillar up!!!
